Scaling Strategy for Smallholder Regenerative Agriculture

Senior Editor (at Terra Genesis International) for an 8-part report series funded by the Rockefeller Foundation, focused on pathways to scaling regenerative agriculture among smallholder farmers and introducing innovative or diversified crops into regenerative markets.

Carbon Harvest White Paper

Drawing on research, expert interviews, a regional landscape analysis, and a survey of voluntary and regenerative carbon credit programs from around the world, the white paper laid the foundation for Carbon Harvest, an innovative community-based agroforestry carbon initiative in Southern Appalachia that went on to win USDA Climate-Smart funding.

Nicaragua Regenerative Coffee

Project manager and client lead for a major multinational coffee supplier to support smallholder coffee farmers in Nicaragua to transition to diversified, shaded polyculture coffee systems.

The task was to develop diversified, climate-resilient, low-carbon cropping concepts for smallholder coffee systems in Nicaragua. The team developed different cropping concept variations — from simpler, commercially oriented diversification to more highly diversified, food-sovereignty-oriented systems. The designs were accompanied by carbon and financial modeling to make the business case for the investment — for both the farmers and the company.
